What Happens on Completion Day
By the time arrives, most of the real negotiation is done and the day itself is largely mechanical: final documents are signed, funds move between accounts through solicitors, and share certificates or asset transfers are executed. It can feel anticlimactic after months of work, which is exactly as it should be if the preparation has been thorough.
Handover on the day itself is worth planning properly rather than leaving informal. Bank mandates, supplier accounts, insurance policies, and access to key systems all need to transfer cleanly, and a checklist agreed with the outgoing owner in advance avoids scrambling for a password on day one.
